OYO 8248 Hotel Shanti Plaza

The bathroom was in poor shape, with a broken flush and leaking taps. The room key didn't work, so whenever we shut the door we had to call staff to let us back in. There were no room amenities, and the staff were rude. It felt like all they cared about was money.

The location was handy, close to the main bazaar but not noisy, and the Wi-Fi was great. Reception staff were helpful, and the doorman carried our bags without being asked, then asked for a tip. We paid 50% of the night's charge for early check-in after arriving in the morning by semi-sleeper. I understand the fee, though it was a bit of a shame. We went through four rooms before settling on one that was clean and comfortable. The first had mold on the ceiling, the second smelled odd, and the third wasn't ready. There were loads of tiny flying insects in the bathroom, which was unpleasant but not terrible. The shower had no hot water. For the money, it was okay, I guess.

The hotel has no soundproofing, and the surrounding area can be loud all night. Across the four rooms my friends and I stayed in, the beds already had a lot of hair on them. The rooms clearly weren't cleaned properly.

Coming back to Shanti Plaza after the chaos of Delhi's streets was a relief. My room was cozy and clean, with what I needed to relax, and I slept well despite being somewhere so convenient for getting around the city. The staff made the stay especially easy. They were kind, checked that I was comfortable, helped with transport, and shared tips about the city. The welcoming feeling started as soon as I walked in. I had a great time here and would happily stay again or recommend it to someone looking for a comfortable, friendly place.
