Hotel Singh Empire Dx

The hotel is in a perfect spot, just 2 minutes from New Delhi Railway Station, and booking through Goibibo was super smooth. It operates under a few names, though The Singh Empire is the name people here recognize most. Our room was clean and very spacious, with 24/7 hot water, toiletries, and tea and coffee. The building is old but freshly painted and well maintained. Staff were friendly and quick on their feet. There’s an in-house kitchen and a basement gym, and lots of foreign travelers stay here, which speaks to its safety and standards. We skipped the hotel food and went for chole bhature nearby at SitaRam Diwan Chand. Good value for money. We’ll visit again!

We came to shop, and the hotel was a reasonable distance from several good shopping areas. The family rooms were especially well kept, and everything was extremely clean. The AC and water supply were better than what I've had in some four-star hotels. Housekeeping did a brilliant job. I'll definitely book here again when I'm in town.

The room was in poor shape: the bathroom was broken, the shower didn't work, and the minibar fridge could barely cool water. The photos seem to be about ten years old, so don't be taken in by them. At reception, a man around 50 kept staring at guests, which made me uncomfortable. I expected much more and left disappointed. I'd only choose this place if I had no other option. The funny part is MMT won't let you post a review on its website.

We ended up moving to another hotel after being asked for a huge extra payment, and the whole episode wasted time and caused a lot of stress. We'd booked through Agoda a month and a half ahead and had a confirmed reservation in the app, but on arrival the hotel said it hadn't received any booking and sent us to Agoda. Agoda customer care confirmed the booking was valid and fully paid. They called the hotel several times without getting an answer. The hotel only spoke to them after using our phone, then changed its explanation: the Agoda amount was supposedly too low, and they wouldn't give us a room unless we paid much more. If they weren't prepared to honor the confirmed online price, paying in advance made no sense. This felt like a clear scam involving online bookings. Avoid it if you care about your time, money, and peace of mind, or you could end up out on the street without a room.
