Hotel Star Inn

We left promptly. The walls in the rooms had stains and runs, and what may once have been white decor had turned off-white. There was no soundproofing. I spoke with the receptionist/owner, who proudly said he'd given the hotel a four-star rating without any checks. I booked in a rush after transport problems. They arranged a transfer back to the airport for 700 rupees, which was overpriced, while we arranged our own way there for 250 rupees. On arrival things seemed fine, and while my wife checked the room, I chatted at reception. Then I was told the hotel was full. After the room inspection, they offered three alternatives: one next to a man practicing his DJ mix at disco volume, which they said proudly would stop at midnight; one beside the clunky lift; and one next door to a TV playing Bollywood films, with the disco music still audible.

Good location, and the service was fast and good 👍 The room and ceiling were both hard. The bed was comfortable for a couple. Nice hotel, I'd like to come again.

The room was below average and dirty, with hair in the toilet. It got so hot in the morning that sleeping was impossible, and there was no water in the morning. More than anything, I felt unsafe staying there, and had a terrible time with people I felt were dishonest and scamming others. I'd booked a different hotel right next to this one and asked people on the street for directions. They took me to their hotel instead and pretended it was the one I'd booked. They asked to see my booking confirmation email and kept acting as if that was the place, asking me to pay the amount shown on it. I asked several times why the name was different and said it wasn't the right hotel, but they wouldn't answer and acted very shady. It was very late, and I didn't want to walk the streets alone, so I ended up staying.

The food was okay, but the utensils weren't very clean. The sheets were dirty, there were lizards in the room, the faucets were broken, and the toilets were dirty. Dust covered the room and the ceiling fan. The AC and TV remotes didn't work at all, and the hygiene was 1/10. I asked room service to clean for six days, but they recklessly ignored me. They also charge extra if you don't book online, then give you a below-average room at a luxury price. If hygiene matters to you, find somewhere else.
