Hotel The Sunder

I paid ₹3,000 for one night in an AC room, but the AC didn’t work and I couldn’t sleep in the heat. When I kept calling reception, all they said was that there was no remote available. They didn’t provide a towel or soap either. The hotel name sounds good, but the management and service were not. The price is high for a place that doesn’t provide basic facilities. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The food is too expensive, and the employees were unfriendly. They couldn’t even provide drinking water. If you need hot water, you have to ask reception to turn on the geyser. They also serve liquor in the rooms, so families should avoid this place. It was the worst experience, and I’d never recommend this hotel.

The room price was high, and they charged 12% GST plus a 10% service charge. For one non-AC single-bed room, they quoted ₹2500, then silently charged ₹3000 to my card. The receptionist said ₹500 was an advance for food and would be refunded if I didn’t order. After I ordered food, though, they added another 12% tax and a service charge to the bill at checkout. I believe these charges aren’t allowed under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India rules. It felt like they were taking money from visitors illegally, and I think consumer care should inspect their license and the 12% tax charge. They must have thought I was stupid. I know them very well, but didn’t want to argue.

They told us it was an Agra package, but never showed us the Taj Mahal. We felt badly cheated and scammed. In the room, the toilet water and AC didn’t work unless we asked each time, because they kept them switched off. The staff were rude too. Nobody should stay here.
