Rockland Hotel - C R Park

I left disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this hotel based on my experience. My flight back to Europe was the next morning, and I’d hoped to get a good night’s sleep. The heat and traffic noise made that difficult. The beds are also shorter than normal, so as someone slightly taller than average, my feet hung over the end. The restaurant was worse. It’s in the basement, felt dirty and poorly ventilated, and had a stale, unpleasant smell. No other guests were eating there, which made us a little skeptical, but we decided to try it. We ordered dry tandoori chicken tikka without gravy and dal. The chicken looked unusual, with visible oil and sauce despite our request for it dry. It was cold when tasted, though fully cooked, which suggested it may have been prepared earlier and reheated. I didn’t feel comfortable eating it from a food safety perspective. Staff first tried to persuade us to order something else, but after that I had no confidence in how the rest of the food was prepared. The manager came, asked what was wrong, apologized, and said we wouldn’t have to pay for the food. We were still charged for the drinks, even though we’d ordered them to go with the meal and didn’t finish them. We left and went elsewhere for dinner. The rooms are smaller than usual, though the general standard is acceptable. The bed in my first room was terrible, extremely hard, and I could feel the metal springs through the mattress. For 4,500 INR per night, that was completely unacceptable. At reception, they first said the hotel was fully booked when I complained. I said that price for a room with a broken bed wasn’t reasonable. After some discussion, they eventually gave me another room with a proper bed. The hotel advertises air conditioning in the rooms, but mine was very hot. First I was told the AC was turned off because it was winter, then later I was told it was broken.

We were kept awake all night because the central air conditioning wasn’t working and there was no ventilation in the room. We ended up leaving the main door open for air, and now have a severe headache. We reported the AC problem to staff 4-5 times during the day and were assured it would be repaired. When we returned to Rooms 323 and 325 at night, staff told us the AC wasn’t working and they keep AC units shut during this season. They should have told us at check-in or when we first raised the problem. Given the discomfort and the failure to fix it after repeated reports.

Our team at compromec wants to thank the rockland hotel team for the good service. We had a very pleasant stay, and the room was clean and good. The manager, Mr Shafi khan, and the staff were cooperative and supportive.

I had to cancel because of a medical emergency, and I informed the hotel several times before check-in. The property showed no flexibility or empathy and simply sent me back to MakeMyTrip. Whatever the policy, the lack of support in a genuine medical situation was disappointing.
