I came to Shri Delhi Gujarati Samaj because my exam was on Sunday and the centre was very close. The accommodation was good, better than I expected. The place was nearly full when I booked, but luckily my family and I got a dormitory room. After freshening up and eating, I asked a worker where I could study. They said I could use the library, enter my name, and sit there to read. The dormitory was crowded, so I went looking for a quiet spot. There were only three people in the library, including the librarian or person in charge. I found a corner seat, unpacked my bag, and was about to study. Then he asked if I was reading my own books. When I said yes, he told me I had to borrow one of the library's books, mostly Gujarati titles, to sit there. I politely explained that my exam was Sunday and I wanted to study my own books for a while, but he wouldn’t let me. He said I should study in the dormitory since I had booked a dorm room. I didn’t argue, just left quietly. They should let at least exam students sit there. There are resources, so why not let people use the library for at least some time?

The food quality is very good and it’s a nice place for families. The staff work very slowly on room bookings, though. I had to wait an hour and a half.

The canteen serves good Gujarati food, and the location is convenient: about 700m from Civil Lines metro station and near Kashimiri gate ISBT. It’s very cost effective for a solo traveler, though they only provide a bed in a dormitory, not a separate room.

The thali looked decent, but the food was bland and disappointing in both taste and quality. Nothing was memorable, and the presentation was ordinary. I came to Shree Delhi Gujarati Samaj Restaurant hoping for authentic Gujarati flavors, but this didn’t live up to the hype. If you’re craving real Gujarati cuisine, I’d avoid it. For the price, the experience was completely underwhelming.

A good place to stay in Delhi if you want Gujarati food. They have all kinds of Gujarati dishes, along with other food too.
