Hotel Rameshwaram

I’ve stayed in countless hotels, but I’ve never met a front desk team so committed to being unhelpful. From the moment I arrived, the service felt openly hostile. The receptionist sighed heavily because I’d interrupted their phone scrolling. When I mentioned my reservation, they said it didn’t exist. They didn’t try to check with my confirmation number or double-check anything, just stared blankly and shrugged. The attitude was dismissive, condescending, and lazy. I asked to speak to the front desk manager, hoping for basic professionalism, but things got worse. The manager was even more arrogant and backed up the receptionist’s rudeness instead of calming things down. They spoke as if I were a nuisance for asking for the room I’d already paid for. There was no apology, no accountability, and no hospitality. Avoid this place unless being insulted is something you enjoy.

Our Durga Puja was made special here. After being robbed at Aradhna resort, Simultala, staying at Rameswaram (now Biznotel ) felt like heaven. The rooms were good, the staff behaved very well, and I have nothing to complain about.

The manager was very rude and unprofessional, and what he said made no sense. The room was in bad shape: the AC barely worked, there was no warm water, and the washroom fittings were broken. Poor service and facilities. I’m never coming back. Avoid this place.

Everything else seemed nice and decent, including the restaurant, but I had a problem with how they prepared the food. I ordered chicken biryani, which should ideally be yellowish, but they served it green with palak paste mixed in. I was confused and ate it. I also ordered chicken murga masallam, but what came out looked like it had been made the way tandoori is. I wasn’t sure that was right, so I raised it with the general manager. They called the head chef to explain the preparation, and we both then realized that this wasn’t the proper way to make it. When I complained and asked for a refund, the general manager offered to remake it. I was already full and couldn’t eat a second serving. Because I’d paid by card, not cash, he wouldn’t return the money, but promised I could eat for free the next time I came to Deoghar. I’m in Bangalore now. When my family recently visited AIIMS Deoghar, I thought of sending them to the same restaurant for lunch. I called the GM, but this time he wouldn’t honor our agreement about a free meal. He’s around my father’s age, so I spoke respectfully and ended the call rather than argue. At first I’d wanted to complain to the governing body that handles the Rameshwaram hotel restaurant chain. If you have a problem with your meal, I’d say throw the plate in their face right then, because you’ll be paying for it. Complaining after you’ve eaten won’t get you far. They don’t seem to understand customer satisfaction or how a particular dish should be made. It’s about more than the dish’s name, it’s also about the original recipe and how it should be prepared.
