Hotel Imperial 9

The room was cold, and the complimentary heater they gave us didn't work. I complained, but the room service guy never came back. There’s no central heating system, and the service was basically nonexistent. The comforter was unclean, and the room looked only average. I’ve attached photos of the heater and bedding. I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through this. If you feel like ruining your time, book here. I’ll never recommend this place.

We got out of there after just two hours. We arrived in Mcleodganj at 5 p.m., checked in, and left because the experience was horrific. We’d booked a semi deluxe room, but were given one beside reception with no view. The curtains were set up so people on the outside pathway could easily look in. The rooms weren’t very clean, and the harsh, dim white lighting made the place feel like a haunted house. The photos seem to be there to fool people. Total waste of money. The hotel cheated us.

We spent the whole night without electricity, and the staff didn’t seem concerned about making guests comfortable. There were no towels in the room or toiletries in the bathroom, and there was no service at all. The parking is more than 1 km from the hotel, too. We found this place through a Google search, but the stay wasn’t worth it. The internet photos are misleading and show Imperial 9 McLeodganj, not this hotel in Dharamshala. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The owner got defensive and argued back when we raised our problems, instead of addressing the poor service. We had booked a presidential suite, but there was no bin or table in the room. The sheets were stained, the towels weren’t properly washed, and cleanliness overall was poor. There was no water in our room all night, so we had to borrow some from a guest next door. At night there was nobody at reception to help. The main door stayed locked until 8.30 am, with guests effectively stuck inside while the only night staff member was presumably asleep until 8am. The room heaters were also a problem to get, and the complimentary breakfast promised before booking wasn’t provided. The hotel looks and feels sad, and the booking site pictures were very different. A stay is 70% of an experience in a place, so I’d avoid this one if you want a better trip. The owner has a lot to improve.
