Rann Resort Dholavira

We only stayed for a day, but Estate Manager Hemant made it memorable. He arranged a late evening tractor trip to the Rann for stargazing on his own initiative, which was a highlight. The food was tasty and felt home-cooked. We had an excellent stay and would highly recommend the property.

The nights here were something else, with quiet all around and an incredible spread of stars. Rann Resort Dholavira is near the Road to Heaven, and the days felt peaceful too. Our cottage was comfortable, clean, and well cared for. The staff were courteous and quick to help, and the cultural programs and delicious food added to the stay. It was a lovely way to experience Gujarat’s spirit. I’d happily come back, and recommend it to anyone visiting Dholavira.

The remote setting made it easy to escape the crowds and enjoy the quiet and night sky. It even felt a little like living in an ancient city. Rann Resort, Dholavira is well kept and has plenty of parking. The rooms are somewhat smaller than usual, but the atmosphere more than made up for that. There weren’t many food choices, though what we had was tasty and served well. We had a great time.

We booked three Rajwadi rooms. The resort is close to the Road to Heaven, and coming from Bhuj you have to cross it to get there. After dinner they take guests into the desert by tractor for stargazing, and the property looks good from the outside in a great location. Room sizes were decent, but one bathroom lock wouldn’t stay shut from the outside, and a foul smell came into the rooms at night. The bathrooms smelled too, maybe because of the large salty water body nearby. In the evening, huge numbers of mosquito-like insects made it hard to stand outside. You couldn’t leave the room light on while entering or they’d rush inside. The food was not good, either in taste or variety, for what the rooms cost.
