The natural setting is what makes this place feel so peaceful. You can wander down to the lake to look for shorebirds, see shepherds bring their water buffalo and goats there, walk along the road, swim in the pool, or just sit on the porch and read, nap, or watch the wildlife. Birds, peacocks and chipmunks roam around, and the plant life is astonishing. It feels like a little piece of paradise that helps a busy mind settle down. The rooms are clean and thoughtfully arranged, with stainless steel bottles to use around the property. There’s also a package in the room with information about Cardamom House, its history, activities and nearby places to visit, as well as a biography of Chris Lucas and his dream for the property. The staff are attentive and seem to anticipate what you might need. Their fresh, home-cooked Indian meals are fantastic. This is one of my favourite places to spend a few days.

What made our three nights at Cardamom House memorable was how warmly the staff treated us. They were generous and caring, helped with all the logistics we needed, and made us feel at home, almost like family. The village tour they arranged was fascinating too. The house sits in a beautiful valley with breathtaking views. There are birds, peacocks and giant butterflies all around, and the whole setting feels both spectacular and deeply calm. Cardamom House really is a little paradise.

A lovely place to get away from everything. We spent a couple of relaxing days there midway through our time exploring South India. The management and staff took care of what we needed, and showed us a good walking route nearby for seeing flowers and shorebirds on the lake.

After 73 km on our bicycle trip, arriving at Cardamom House felt like reaching paradise. We were greeted with a special welcome drink, and Sammy and the guys were friendly and accommodating. We stayed two nights and got up early both mornings to do yoga on the roof, using the mats they provided. Looking out over the hills and lake made for a beautiful start to the day. I hope you get the chance to visit this amazing spot.

We stayed at cardamom house over the Pongal holidays. It's a really quiet place, just right if you want to relax and eat homemade food. A must-visit.
