Royal Hotel

We came as a group at night, and the food served that evening was raw. The chicken curry in particular had undercooked pieces with blood coming out. Our rooms weren't decent either, and the bathroom leaked, including the flush. By morning the water had flooded our rooms. It was a horrible stay. If good food and hygienic rooms matter to you, think carefully before booking. It's a budget-friendly hotel, so consider your preferences and book at your own risk.

The staff were helpful, the rooms were good, and parking was decent. It's right in the city center. My only issue was the price through GOIBIBO: we paid 5500 for 2 rooms, though approaching the hotel directly could get you rooms at half the price. Don't book online during the off season.

The room was simple but okay for a low budget, and it was maintained fine. The food was very good.

What stood out most during our family stay at Royal Hotels, Kodaikanal was how well they looked after us, especially the kids. The location felt peaceful, close to the main attractions but away from the busy areas. The gardens were kept up nicely and gave the children a safe place to run around. They also had indoor activities and games to keep them occupied in the evenings. From check-in onward, things went smoothly. We got useful local sightseeing tips, taxi services were arranged promptly, and a small issue with the heater was sorted out right away. The staff, from reception and the restaurant to housekeeping, were friendly, courteous, and always smiling. They were warm and patient with our children, which made us feel at home. The rooms were spacious, tidy, and set up thoughtfully for families. The beds were very comfortable, and extra blankets and pillows came quickly when we asked. Housekeeping kept everything spotless each day. We also loved seeing Kodaikanal's greenery from our room in the morning. The meals were fresh and delicious, with plenty of choices at breakfast, including South Indian and continental options. There was something both adults and kids enjoyed, and the kitchen was happy to make less spicy or customized dishes for the little ones. The dining area was clean, hygienic, and cozy. Traveling with kids can bring extra needs, and Royal Hotels met them throughout our stay. We had a wonderful, memorable, and stress-free family vacation, and would gladly recommend it to families visiting Kodaikanal. We hope to return soon.
