I couldn't make it to Dirang and Tawang because of bad weather in Assam, and I had to cancel after failing to find a hotel in Tawang during peak season. I had paid an advance to Eight lucky home stay for a booking last April, and they returned the full amount, even though I'd cancelled at the last moment. They could have refused, so I was really surprised and grateful. The amount may be small to you, Ma'am, but it meant a lot to us. Next time I plan to visit Tawang, I promise I'll stay at your homestay for at least one night. Thank you again, and I wish you growth in every way. I haven't stayed there yet.

We're Travelling Bongs... watch our Arunachal series and you'll see how great Dirang Eight Lucky Homestay is. The owners and staff are all so supportive. 5 out of 5.

Felt just like home, and my trip was awesome 😎. The owner is friendly. A must stay.

The owners were polite, but seemed negligent. We asked for towels and never got them. They let more than four guests party in the big room until 2am every night, even though it has only one bed. Our room was right next to it, so there was no peaceful night's sleep. The owners also weren't around much. At checkout we waited 45 minutes for them to return the motorbike luggage straps they'd kept for us, as if anyone would steal those. The location is good, though in such a small town it's hard to be far from anywhere. Keep in mind that restaurant choices in Dirang are extremely limited and places close around 7:30pm. For Rs. 1500 a night, the small room was completely dark, even in daytime, and a heater cost another Rs. 300 per night if you didn't want to freeze. Why isn't heating included in an already pricey room? The only big room with natural light cost Rs. 3000. All in all, a mediocre stay and poor value.

The owner was nice to talk to, but the staff member was very annoying. I caught him drunk, and his breath smelled when he spoke, even during the day. The room was on the second floor, up a very steep, narrow staircase that would make luggage hard for many people to carry. Right below it was a reception and karaoke bar with no soundproofing, so all night until past midnight we heard awful songs from other guests. Nobody could sleep, and at times I felt so angry. Parking is almost nonexistent. Vehicles are left on the roadside, where they could be damaged by passing traffic, and dogs below bark almost every other minute throughout the night. This location is convenient for people who want to be near the market, but people should know about those issues. I wonder why this homestay has more than four stars. It should be one star. The owner also runs Khowti homestay in Dirang, about 100m away. Hope this helps others decide.
