The place was buzzing and they were very busy, but they still made a table for me as a solo diner. 'SURSHANT' explained all the dishes, especially how to eat payasam, and made me feel like I was the only customer. I was recommended this restaurant when I wanted a traditional veg thali. The food was excellent, and the environment very pleasant.

This is a landmark, traditional hotel in Ernakulam, and a very old one. It serves excellent vegetarian food, though it’s costly. There’s an air-conditioned fine-dining space with traditional Kerala Sadya on banana leaves, North Indian curries, and buffet breakfasts. It’s also a popular late-night stop for snacks and authentic South Indian filter coffee.

The room service was good, and the property is in a very convenient location. But the room itself was average with bare minimum facilities, and the centralised AC was practically non functional. The restaurant service was the worst part. We waited half an hour for our Ala carte breakfast and were ignored, so we had to eat at a nearby restaurant. There are plenty of better options at the same price or less.

BTH brings old world charm and convenience together. The rooms were comfortable, staff courteous, and the buffet spread in the dining hall was tasty and generous, worth every Rupee. I’d love to return to this iconic Hotel. One caution: the travel desk quotes inflated rates for car hire, so compare before booking through them.
