Kay Kay Residency

At 5:00 AM on 12-02-2026, after an overnight bus trip from Calicut to Ernakulam, my family stopped at this hotel hoping to book a room. My wife urgently needed a toilet, but the receptionist refused to let her use it unless we booked, even after I explained the emergency and that it was Harthal day. She had to walk a long way with our luggage to find a toilet at a mosque, leaving us distressed and uncomfortable. I found the refusal inhumane and unacceptable, especially toward a woman in need. Hotels have responsibilities under the Sarais Act, 1867, including access to toilets and drinking water, particularly in emergencies. The staff need training in basic hospitality, compassion, and their legal responsibilities so another family doesn't go through this.
