Kohinoor Palace

I paid over ₹42,000 for two rooms for two days at Kohinoor Palace, Faizabad in March 2026, and the stay was deeply concerning. I found a worm in my rice. After I told the staff, the waiter brought rice from the same container and said no fresh rice had been cooked. That response raised serious food safety concerns. Breakfast service was poor too, and the staff seemed unprofessional and unwelcoming. The grounds and surroundings were badly maintained for a hotel charging premium rates. The “heritage hotel” label also feels misleading: I saw no maintained historic architecture or heritage experience to justify it. I urge management to address these problems, and may take the matter to consumer and food safety authorities. I can't recommend the property as it is.

Pramod looked after us very well, and the rooms were good. It's around 10 minutes from Ayodhya Cantt station, so I'd recommend booking here. The breakfast spread was lovely, with food that tasted great.

Breakfast was really good, with plenty to choose from, and the welcome drink when we arrived made us feel appreciated. That's why I'm giving two stars: the staff did try to deal with every problem we reported. But the number of basic issues was hard to accept, and fixing things after complaints doesn't make the stay okay. I won't return. We had three rooms, one super deluxe and two deluxe. The super deluxe looked attractive and new, though it didn't match the photos. Its bathroom drain was blocked and water covered the floor, and there were no hand towels. Both were fixed after we complained. On a cold night the AC couldn't heat the room; staff said it had no heat mode and brought a portable heater, which began sparking during the night, so we turned it off. The Wi-Fi never worked, even when staff tried to connect, leaving Netflix and YouTube unavailable for our kids. We'd asked for a ground-floor deluxe room, but reception said none was available, so we accepted another floor. The stair handrail was broken and my father tripped on it. In the room, the door lock panel was broken, a water tap was nearly falling off, and the power points didn't work. After we raised these issues, they moved us to a ground-floor room, despite having said two hours earlier that there wasn't one available.

The welcome was very poor, with no basic courtesy or hospitality. In the room, broken bathroom taps, missing floor mats and other usual amenities, plus poor upkeep, made for an uncomfortable stay. I checked in yesterday and am due to leave tomorrow, and so far I'm extremely disappointed. I had seen the negative reviews but booked anyway, which was a mistake. The so-called Superior Deluxe was no better than a regular room elsewhere, and the online photos looked old and gave a false impression of its condition. It feels closer to cheating than a simple mismatch. This place doesn't deserve a star rating; it lacks basic comfort, honesty and service.
