There wasn’t much to look at, and I was done in about 10 minutes. They were filming while I was there. Getting to the place took patience because traffic was heavy and pop-up markets crowded the area near the railway station. I wouldn’t suggest going unless you have plenty of time and nothing else planned.

You can have a meal inside the palace, and the visit itself takes less than an hour. Seems like a decent option for people who live nearby.

Nahar Singh Palace has gardens, courtyards and grand halls that make for plenty of photo spots. Its ornate architecture gives the venue a royal feel, and there are indoor and outdoor spaces for different kinds of gatherings. The prices are reasonable. The staff are friendly and attentive, which helps when you’re organizing an event. The palace can host everything from a birthday party or a small gathering to a large wedding reception. It also works well for pre-wedding photos, post-wedding celebrations and film productions, including period dramas.

You’ll find the palace on the main road as you enter Ballabgarh’s main market. It’s also called the Ballabgarh fort. Raja Rao Balram, an ancestor of Raja Nahar Singh, received his throne in 1739 and built it. The palace was constructed in stages up to 1850. Raja Nahar Singh died fighting in the 1857 War of Independence, and his role is remembered here. It has since been renovated into a palace with six air-conditioned rooms, a restaurant, bar and lounge, as well as a courtyard and garden. Kartik cultural fest is held here, along with regular weddings, musical nights, exhibitions and other events. There are also striking architectural features throughout.

The entrance is on the left, with a finely carved main doorway and sturdy wooden doors studded with pointed nails, a design used in the old days to guard against elephant attacks. Inside, there’s an open area with buildings on both sides, a fountain, and narrow, carefully carved passages leading upstairs. Raja Nagar Singh’s statue stands on a high pedestal and makes an inspiring impression. His part in the 1857 revolution is still remembered. The palace is well preserved and sits beside the main road, though visitor parking isn’t properly provided. It’s a nice place to see.
