The canteen was good, and the people serving there were humble, though vegetarian choices were limited. The older person at reception was especially kind, and the staff overall were okay, even if they were quite argumentative and quick to justify things. The hotel felt gloomy throughout, and the rooms looked old, with dated materials and a different appearance from the photos. The pictures seem to have been taken when it was built, because the current condition is the opposite of their bright look. The bed and linens were awful, uneven and hard; the sheets were dirty and yellow, and the towels smelled used. I wouldn't want to check in here again.

Imran, Prem(helper) and Kundan were especially kind and helpful. I appreciated how readily the team offered local tips and travel guidance, and how promptly they helped throughout my stay. The view from the property was a lovely extra, particularly in the morning, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well kept, with the basic amenities provided. I spent 2 days at Central Hotel in Gangtok and really enjoyed it. It has a warm atmosphere and sits right in the middle of MG Marg, so cafes and shops are an easy walk away. It was peaceful, the service was friendly, and I'd happily stay here again and recommend it to others.

The local Sikkimese dishes were especially delicious, and the rest of the food was good too. The staff were genuinely warm and ready to help with a smile. My room was clean and cozy, with a beautiful view of the surrounding hills. A memorable stay, and one I'd recommend to anyone visiting Gangtok for leisure or a peaceful getaway.

The lifts weren't working, so be ready to climb 4 floors. There was no hot water, and telling the staff didn't get anything done. My room and bathroom were unclean, the sheets were torn, and mold and fungus were everywhere. The staff were rude. This was the worst hotel I've stayed in, and it can easily ruin a holiday.
