Hotel Pema Dzong

Getting the food I wanted wasn’t possible, and what they served was terrible. The guest service and staff were rude as well. One of the worst hotel stays I’ve had.

There’s a working kitchen with a dedicated cook, serving both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, though it won’t suit someone who eats only vegetarian food. The staff were very nice and willing to help at any time. The hotel is about 80 meters down a steep slope from MG mark. Some rooms have water leaking from the storage tanks kept outside.

My OYO booking was confirmed and paid for a month before check-in, but when I arrived, the hotel refused to give me a room. OYO eventually resolved it, without compensation, but the staff’s behavior was pathetic. The photos were misleading and the rate was extremely high. I stayed at Hotel Galaxy, about 50 meters away, and there are other nearby hotels at different prices too. The staff at hotel Pema Dzong were frauds. I’d give a negative rating if I could. I’d also avoid booking through OYO, or cancel if you already have, since many people have asked OYO to blacklist them.

The only real convenience was being close to MG Marg and Tasi view point, so the main Gangtok market and nearby places were easy to explore. My ground-floor room was beside a liquor shop, and the window wouldn’t shut properly, leaving me with an irritating smell. Water, electricity, and WiFi all had problems, and even the switch points didn’t work right. The manager wasn’t cooperative at all. Worst hotel I’ve stayed in.
