Powring Guest House

For two nights and two days, the manager charged us Rs 28000/-, which felt extremely unreasonable. We were told the package covered 7 points of Gangtok, but the manager misled us and our trip was still incomplete. She also quoted a taxi price twice the local rate and kept half percent of the payment, according to our experience. The room service was unhygienic, the morning tea was bad, and the location was poor. The manager lady and her daughter, the travel agent Riya, seemed intent on taking our money. Staff and manager behaviour was rude and indecent. We’d advise people to avoid this guest house and the agent’s package.

The guest house was clean, and Aunty and the support staff treated us very well. I found the food tasty, though it was spicier than we’re used to, since our usual meals aren’t that hot. Even so, we had a comfortable stay.

For all three days we paid for, they kept moving us between rooms, including windowless rooms underground. The location was bad too. The owner was greedy and rude, and would start fights over nothing. The uncle at Siliguri stand spoke politely while arranging the room, then stopped answering after we paid. I wouldn’t go there.

The room and bed were dirty, and room service was awful. The owner behaved badly, the food service was poor, and the food itself wasn’t good.
