Pradhan Residency

The manager’s attitude left us with a very poor impression. Anupam, the Bengali manager, was rude and unprofessional, and we repeatedly felt he wasn’t willing to provide the meals included in our booking. Others may have a different stay, but this was ours, and I’d think carefully before booking while he’s in charge. We arrived at 1:00 PM, with the hotel already knowing several guests were coming, but lunch still wasn’t ready at 3:30 PM. He said the Gangtok power outage meant he couldn’t cook, even though the hotel had gas, utensils, and the necessary equipment. We were repeatedly encouraged to eat lunch outside, which seemed like an attempt to avoid providing the food. At night they refused to serve roti, giving us rice, a bland meat curry with no vegetables or potatoes, some salad, and colorful fried papad. The food quality was terrible. During the outage there was no backup power, only candles. Things improved slightly after we discussed it the next morning. At checkout, the manager called a car so we could get to the main taxi stand more easily. That small gesture didn’t make up for the lack of preparation or the unhelpful treatment.

We didn’t stay because the room made us feel so uncomfortable. The mattress cover was a little wet, there was heavy dirt on the floor and furniture, and the previous guest’s rubbish was still in the bin. Mold covered all the room’s walls. I don’t understand how this place has such a high Google rating.

It may not be a 3-star or 5-star hotel, but the atmosphere felt better than other star hotels in gangtok. It was comfortable, like being at home, and I’d recommend it to tourists visiting the city. A special thanks to fotik @sa sahidul da. Thanks a lot, I’ll visit again. Love you.

The rooms were clean, and the owner and staff were really friendly. Staff were available 24*7, and I found the hotel fully trustworthy. Strongly recommend PRADHAN RESIDENCY. It’s good value for money, and every penny spent here feels worthwhile.
