Summit Norling Resort & Spa

The room was a decent size, but the washroom was a major letdown. It looked cheap, needed renovation, and wasn’t well maintained. There were bugs, it clearly hadn’t been deep cleaned, and the shower area wasn’t properly separated from the rest of the bathroom. Pigeons made constant noise, and despite the hotel advertising good room views, surrounding buildings blocked almost everything. The property felt disconnected from the city and nearby attractions. Food was average at best for this price, and the spa wasn’t consistently available. They had a bonfire setup, but it was never lit during our stay. We paid around ₹10,000 per night, yet the overall quality didn’t justify it. From the outside and in photos it may look like a 5-star hotel, but the real experience fell well short. To me, it felt more like a ₹2,000-₹3,000 per night place. Very disappointing for the price.

The bonfires kept us warm and gave everyone a great place to hang out, and the entertainment was fantastic. Most of all, the team made sure there was a safe atmosphere for everyone to party without worries. We celebrated New Year’s Eve at Summit Norling with 13 people, and the whole experience was incredible. It’s hard to find a venue that handles a big group so smoothly. Akshaya Pradhan and the entire team organized everything professionally, so we could relax and enjoy the countdown. The food was delicious, every bite a winner, and we were welcomed warmly. The friendly staff kept checking that we had what we needed all night, always with a smile. Summit Norling feels like a local treasure, whether you’re there for a big event or a weekend dinner.

The rooms were clean, but they didn’t match what was shown online. We were promised a private balcony and a mountain view, but there was no private balcony, and the view was of the tin roof below. When we asked reception, they said those were the rooms assigned to our booking and the only ones available. I paid a higher rate expecting a great location, but the surroundings were ordinary, crowded with houses, and offered no clear view. We stayed for three nights with family in Jan 26 during our Sikkim trip. The restaurant meal we tried once was okay. Service was the worst part. Most staff seemed rude and unwilling to help. The security guard and an intern were the only ones who smiled while assisting us. Even small requests were met with references to policy, and they quoted hefty charges for things like a bonfire, which we’d found complimentary at other properties. After checkout, they called to say the room bill was unpaid. I explained that I had prepaid through Yatra App and shared the booking voucher, but they still asked for bank slips and didn’t seem convinced. They kept calling frantically even after I explained everything, and it ruined my sightseeing that day. The trip itself was fantastic, but I could have had a better stay elsewhere.

The buffet was a highlight, with plenty of variety and really good taste, and the live band added to the atmosphere. I spent New Year’s Eve at Summit Norling, which was packed, but the team handled the crowd with grace. They seemed short-staffed, though the service never felt that way. Manager Akshaya was everywhere, helping the team, welcoming guests, and keeping the evening running smoothly. It could easily have been chaotic, but their leadership made it a lovely, memorable celebration. It’s rare to see a General manager so hands-on on a night like that. Thanks for such a beautiful start to 2026. I’d recommend the hotel for its professionalism and dedication.
