The in-house bakery at Hotel Newcastle is a real treat. Everything seemed freshly baked, looked lovely, and tasted full of flavor, from the breads to the rich pastries. Even if you're only passing through, it's worth trying some of the bakery's food. It adds to the hotel's warm feel. We also loved the restaurant, PORKYS. The food was lip-smacking, especially the mixed grill sizzler, chowmein, pork chilly, and barbecue items, with plenty more to try. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well kept, with a colonial style. Service was a standout: the staff were warm and attentive, quick with room service, and helpful with local recommendations. The hotel sits in a beautiful hillside setting with panoramic views, and waking up to the misty hills was refreshing. It feels like home, whether you're there for leisure or a quiet retreat. Easily one of the best hotels in Gangtok. Simply the best.

The location was ideal for catching a beautiful sunrise, and we enjoyed the atmosphere in both the hotel and restaurant. The staff were warm too. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it.

We got to MG market easily by shared taxi, about 1 km away, and would definitely come back. Our room was clean, spacious, and nicely decorated, and the restaurant food was tasty. Staff were super helpful and the hospitality was great. The hotel has a restaurant and bar, and room service is available. We stayed for three days over New Year and received a complimentary cake and good wishes. The rooms are beautifully designed. I'd recommend it for a comfortable stay.

It's an older property, and there are better places in the same budget. The room itself was good enough, but only one towel was provided for two guests, and the bathtub was useless, just taking up space. There was a cigarette smell outside the room. The restaurant is very costly, and no one answers the reception phone because the only person looking after everything sits in the restaurant.
