The annexe rooms weren't as good an experience for some of our group, though we had a brilliant room, Judges bedroom. The hotel has plenty of character and the service was great. It's close to heritage villege and felt like a special place to stay.

The rooms are spacious and full of character, but the hotel seems to rate itself too highly. The shower wasn't working, and surely someone should have noticed. Food options were poor in both quality and quantity, and the head waiter was surly. I was also surprised they charged for bottled water.

The property is impressive, with spacious rooms and good gardens, but the swimming pool is practically nonexistent. Food costs a lot, yet the taste and service were below average. Some menu items were frozen market food, fried and served. Stay here if you like, but I'd avoid eating there.

The setting is picturesque and conveniently located, and the traditional decor and antiques give the hotel a nostalgic, elegant feel. It preserves its historical character nicely, and the staff were welcoming and knew the property's history. I enjoyed the authentic local food in the heritage setting. The washrooms weren't very good, though, and proper food service information should be included when booking.
