The location is very good, but the stay was awful. We arrived at 4pm to find the rooms uncleaned, and staff wouldn’t replace my towel because the laundry person wasn’t available, telling me to reuse the wet one. None of the room phones worked, so every request meant going downstairs to reception. They wouldn’t switch on the central heater unless the hotel was fully booked, and when the gas ran out in the single heater at the dining table, staff told us, "app thandi me hi khalo sab ke tarha" (Eat in the cold, the rest of the guests are eating in the cold as well). The menu stayed the same every day, and I doubt they might have been mixing yesterday’s food into the next day’s menu. The utensils and cutlery were unhygienic. The professionalism was the worst.

Our car got stuck in the snow, and Mr Shahnawaz helped by pushing it out. At first we felt helpless, but then the whole staff came outside to lend a hand. They were cooperative, well mannered, and professional, and treated us like family. The hotel’s welcome and location were wonderful, and visiting a few days ago was a really good experience. I personally recommend it. Mr Shahnawaz was helpful and compassionate about his work.

The washroom had no water, and neither the central heating nor the room heater worked. The electric blanket was defective and unsafe, slippers were missing, and several other basic facilities weren’t provided. I complained repeatedly to reception, but nothing was fixed. For the high price, the poor service and substandard meals were especially disappointing. A very bad stay, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

The hotel’s location is excellent and easily its strongest point. Our rooms were comfortable and satisfactory, while the facilities were decent. Service was average, though that’s understandable given the adverse weather while we were there. With such a high tariff, the service and amenities could still be improved.

I spent two nights at Welcome Hotel Gulmarg, and the stay was a delight from beginning to end. The staff made me feel welcome as soon as I arrived. Mohsin at the front desk deserves a special mention for making check-in smooth and helping me with breakfast and dinner.
