Having direct bus transport to Maa Kamakhya Temple right outside was handy, and the location near Guwahati Railway Station is hard to beat. Ambarish Grand Residency in Paltan Bazaar is an all-in-one kind of place, with a professional conference hall, restaurant, bar, and dedicated parking, which is rare in such a busy area. Renovation work was going on, so we had some temporary water supply issues in the bathroom. Still, the helpful staff and great city views made the stay really positive. I’m looking forward to coming back once the upgrades are done later this month and seeing the full transformation.

The hotel is right on the main road, with a lift, and it’s an old but good place. There’s a restaurant with reasonably priced food, and lots of other options right across from the hotel too. If you’re coming from Platform 8, come out that way and it’s a 3 minute walk. From Platform 1, you need to go over the bridge, or book an auto for ₹150.
