Hotel Asian Openbill

I spent three nights at Hotel Asian Openbill, and the room was spacious, but the noise made it hard to sleep or work. Construction went on all day on the third floor of the commercial building, with drilling and hammering, and there were power, water, and WiFi outages. The hotel is also on a very busy, loud, dusty road junction. Reception staff helped me connect to a hotspot so I could work or communicate on WhatsApp, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

I was here for three days. The rooms felt worth the price, and the staff were really friendly and behaved very well.

The front desk lady was helpful, and getting an Uber to the airport was easy. The hotel is on the fourth floor, above a Reliance mart on the lower ground. Rooms are spacious and well lit, though only just clean enough. They have big bathrooms with separate showers, plus a TV, wardrobe, study table, kettle, good AC, and good WiFi. Breakfast was just okay, either puri or bread and butter. The building shakes when trucks pass on the highway, and the entrance is creepy, with dirt around it like a garbage area. Still, don't judge the hotel by the entrance.

The staff made a strong impression, friendly and attentive, and quick to help with room service or local travel tips. I stayed at Hotel Asian Openbill in the Dharapur area of Guwahati, close to the airport, which made getting around for travel easy. My room was clean and spacious, with Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a comfortable bed. The in-house restaurant served decent Assamese and standard Indian food. Breakfast was complimentary. For a budget-friendly, comfortable stay near the airport, especially for business travelers or a short layover, it offers good value.
