The rooms were stale and old, with spider webs everywhere, and the linens were dirty. The lift kept switching off. Staff said it turned off and on by itself. The lights in my room also weren’t working except for the last one, which was on life support. They said they’d send an electrician, but never did. It’s now my second day here. I didn’t get a geyser either. First they said the heating was central, then, when I asked why there was no hot water, they said it doesn’t come at night. I clarified I meant during the day, and then they said I had a switch. The whole hotel had no hot water. Staff are particularly unresponsive and trained to lie to guests. This is undoubtedly the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
The rooms are big, but dirty, and there were bed bugs in the beds. I couldn’t sleep all night. The door locks didn’t work in any room. My key didn’t work, and they opened my locked door with a spoon. Service was awful, nobody listened, and I waited 20 minutes for someone to open the door. Even with a prebooking, they demanded extra cash to give me a room. Food service was worse: the food tasted very bad for the overpriced amount. They wouldn’t let me cancel even two minutes after ordering, and charged the full amount. When I refused, they started behaving like goons. The worst experience. I’m never going back. Save your money and don’t fall for this hotel’s trap.
The outside looks lovely and the lobby is fine, but the rooms are worse than an Indian local train for cleanliness. It looked like mine hadn’t been cleaned in years. When I asked housekeeping to clean it, they had the nerve to say it had just been done. Worst hotel ever. Please don’t book it, there are plenty of other options.
Hotel Ambarish had a very good location and plenty of car parking space. Our room was clean, the food was good, service was good, and the staff were well behaved. We had a great stay.
This hotel brings back a lot of memories for me. A scene from Zubeen Garg's "Tumi Mur Mathu Mur" Film was shot here in 2000. It’s also in a great location, which makes for good accommodation.
