OYO 14869 Hotel Apollo

The manager's response left a bad impression. I missed breakfast because of an early darshan at Kamakhya and asked for a cup of tea instead, but he said it was my fault. The staff otherwise were okay. The rooms had no hygiene at all. There were pan spit marks all over the dustbin, the pillow covers and sheets were disgusting, and the washroom was the worst I've experienced.

We came out at 5:30am for an early darshan and discovered the building was locked, so we couldn't get out. Luckily, our Uber driver woke people in the reception building to help us. That was the last straw after a terrible stay. We booked for one night because the hotel was near Kamakhya temple. It felt like a dingy bar and restaurant with rooms attached, something I wouldn't have chosen if I'd known. I trusted Treebo, and that was a mistake. The rooms smelled and seemed never to have been cleaned. Dust was everywhere, and the bed, sheets, and pillows smelled bad, were stained, and had hair on them. The bathrooms leaked and were dirty, and the mats were disgusting. When I asked someone to clean the bathroom again, he said those were water stains and it would stay that way, then walked off. I had also believed the 4* rating from 1k+ people on Google. Looking more closely afterward, I felt there were five fake 5* ratings for every 1* rating. Please don't put yourself through a stay here. Guwahati has good Ola/Uber connectivity, so you can travel to Kamakhya temple from elsewhere.

The food and service were good. The staff worked hard to provide what we needed and came up with proper solutions when something went wrong. I'd give them five stars. The rooms are small and not properly clean, and most don't get proper sunlight, which makes them feel gloomy. At night the restaurant downstairs is just a bar, so visiting it may feel uncomfortable, especially for women. There are better Treebo hotels. I'd give the rooms two stars, which is why I deducted two overall.

The hotel looked nothing like the booking photos, and the rooms seemed to be in very poor condition in what felt like an old property. Despite being beside the road, they were stuffy. Water leaked in the bathroom all day and night, and the floor and sheets looked unwashed. For the price, there are plenty of better hotels in Guwahati. I wouldn't take my family here.
