OYO 17255 Hotel Kanika Inn

The food delay was fine at first. I ordered the previous night and was told it would take 30 minutes, but after 40 minutes it still hadn’t arrived. When I went to ask, the receptionist and someone in the kitchen were scolding and abusing each other over who had picked up, or something like that. It bothered me. The people seemed poorly trained, uncivilized, and really unprofessional. My OYO stays had been good until this, but this made me feel bad. It’s a terrible way for a hotel customer to start and end a day, and I’ll definitely lodge a complaint. Disgusting, extremely poor service. Then checkout was just as bad. At 6 am nobody was at reception, so I woke a guy and asked if I owed anything. He said I was clear to leave, with nothing pending, and confirmed when I asked again. After I left, another guy chased me into the middle of the street saying I still owed part of the payment. I felt insulted, but didn’t want to ruin his day, so I gave him 200 rupees. He said 150 was due, so I asked for 50 back. He went to get change and didn’t return for at least 10 minutes. My driver came, and I had to leave. I understand he needed sleep, but I had a flight too. Very unprofessional. He shouldn’t be working there.

The bathroom was small and dirty, and they didn’t provide towels, soap, shampoo, or anything like that. We weren’t even given a water bottle. They also refused to give us cutlery after we ordered food from outside, and they don’t provide food themselves. The manager was very rude, and check-in took an unnecessary long time even though we booked through OYO. If you leave something behind by mistake, don’t expect help getting it back. The staff aren’t capable of hosting guests. I’m never staying there again.

I booked two standard rooms through OYO and paid online for a package with breakfast and dinner. At check-in, the receptionist was very rough with me. First he asked why I had paid online, then told me to cancel the food booking. He also said central government employees’ ID cards weren’t accepted, as if they were doing us a favor by letting us stay. Instead of the two rooms, I got a very small room with a double bed and cupboard, nothing else. The hot water stopped after about five minutes. There’s no canteen; food is only available by order, and it took over an hour to arrive. It was poor quality too. There was just one staff member handling everything.

For this price, it’s a decent hotel. The room was okay, as was the washroom and hospitality. There was AC and free wifi, though the water bottle costs extra. The washroom and pillows smelled a bit. Breakfast wasn’t great. We got bread and butter, and when I asked if I could pay for an omelette, they still said no.
