The room was well maintained and had a kitchen with utensils. The host was friendly and very straightforward. It’s about 15-20min from kamakya temple.
We stayed in the downstairs single room from the night of the 22nd until the afternoon of the 24th. The property was well maintained and had lots of greenery, and the room looked like the pictures. The lane is so narrow that two cars can’t pass. If you’re lucky and no vehicle blocks you, you can get in quickly, but parked cars can also make unloading luggage difficult. Our cab spent ages reversing through that lane while people honked and drove around. We had six big suitcases, six carry-ons, my wife, and our six-year-old with us after moving from abroad, so it was a lot to manage. The bigger problem was communication. No one would answer my calls, and I had to wait for messages. I’d explained that we planned to visit Kamakhya temple in the morning, that timing was uncertain, and that with all our luggage and a child we needed to check out around 10 pm because our train was in the evening. I asked about a suitable tariff and got an “Ok,” but I had no idea what that meant. The night before, I was told we had to vacate by 11 am, and if we weren’t back, the maid would move our things into the hall. I asked for a room and tariff instead, but got no response. We rushed back from the temple, stressed and anxious, and had to arrange another hotel and plan to return by 11 at any cost. With this kind of plan, don’t stay. If you’re travelling solo with one bag or have clear timings, it’s a good property. The man didn’t communicate properly, though he would keep reddy bears and all. In India, a customer is treated like an idiot. Mr Text, whoever you are, please communicate properly so families like mine don’t suffer because they assumed a highly educated person was behind the great-host reviews.
For anyone coming to santipur or nearby, this is a great, affordable place to stay. The rooms are clean and neat, and the owner is very sweet and kind. I really liked this homestay and recommend visiting.
The place was cozy, clean, and comfortable, and the host treated us like family. It made our trip memorable, and we’d love to return. Highly recommend for a homely stay.
The rooms were nice and clean, with an aesthetic interior. The location is a bit far from kamakhya temple, and the area is congested and rural, so solo women travelers should think about that. I ordered a veg thali, but felt it was very costly for just daal chawal and sabji. An okay experience overall, and the food service could be better.
