The Guwahati Address

The staff were warm and responsive, and the restaurant portions were generous with good food. Rooms are spacious, with comfortable beds, a safe locker, toilet amenities, HD TV channels, and a fully stocked bar. The entrance and lobby look good. Parking is limited, which could be a problem. It was a good stay, and I found this off-beat hotel better than the town's existing five-star hotels.

The food was decent overall, though the Chicken Malai Tikka was hard and dry inside, so we sent it back. The Chicken Noodles were drier than they should have been. Staff were polite and handled things well. We visited Guwahati Address for dinner yesterday. The fine-dine restaurant, bar, and cafe have a pleasant atmosphere, but the air conditioners weren't working and a pedestal cooler left the dining area warm and uncomfortable. Prices are high, and at those premium rates I expected a more comfortable meal. The place has good potential, and I hope they sort out the AC and make the food more consistent.

The room was big, with a spacious balcony where it was nice to hang out, though the view was of the flyover bridge. The bathroom was also large and felt luxurious, and chain restaurants are nearby. For nearly 13K for one night, though, I expected more. We arrived with about 7 bags and I ended up carrying 5 myself. I don't mind carrying bags, but at a five-star hotel I hoped the staff would handle them. A pool would have been nice, too. The breakfast buffet disappointed me. The dahi was great, but my friend and I each had about three small cups before 9 AM, then they stopped refilling it. When we asked for one more each, they were reluctant. We overheard staff making fun of us for eating so much dahi. They could at least have gone to the back before laughing at us for belting it down. The bathroom toiletries were underwhelming, with mediocre products. Novotel and Holiday Inn, which cost 4K or more less, offer much better ones. When I plugged in my mini speaker to charge, the DB master switch tripped. In the dark I hit a table or something and slightly injured my knee. That's not what I expected at a fancy hotel. None of these things made staying there impossible, but for the same money I could rent a pool villa at a resort in Kumarakom with better amenities.

The hotel is conveniently close to developed market areas, and we would love to return to The Guwahati Address. We stayed for almost a week in December 2025 and felt at home, thanks to the warmth of everyone, from reception and housekeeping to the restaurant, cafe, security, and support teams. The building adds to that feeling, with natural stone and wood and traditional Assamese details in the decor. All the staff were dedicated and welcoming.
