Hotel Vivek Continental

For the price, this hotel is well worth it. The rooms were clean and maintained, with useful amenities like A.C, T.V, toiletries, towels, a sofa, and a reading desk. The restaurant is spacious, and the food was great when we ordered. Staff were friendly and helpful when needed, so I'd recommend it to anyone after a quality budget hotel. Getting there is difficult for elderly and physically challenged people because vehicles can't access the property. Apart from that, it's a great place to stay.

We stayed overnight after booking through OYO, and this place isn't for anyone who expects prompt, organized service. Water came only when we asked, and nobody offered even a glass while we waited in the hotel on a very hot day. Two of our group went to park the car, while the other two waited. The hotel had arranged parking about 500 metres away, but it took the others almost 30 to 40 minutes to return, and the service was pathetic. We were in the middle of a crowded market, in a building without parking. After check-in, tea from room service took forever, and lunch was just as slow. I'd give it 2 stars.

When I first arrived, they put me in room 103, but its geyser wasn't working, so I moved to 106. That evening, plugging in my phone charger caused the electricity in the room to go off. An electrician arrived after 30-40 mins and inspected the old wiring. He said a major repair was needed and would be done the next day, so I was given room 103 in the meantime, then moved again to 102 because its geyser didn't work. All of that happened within 24 hours. The property is old and has been repainted and redone to some extent, but the electrical wiring has a lot of problems. Room service is poor too, and orders take too long. There's also a strange billing issue: if you order something to the room, they bill the base amount plus GST. If you ask them to put it on your room bill, they charge GST again on the total. I don't know whether that's ignorance or on purpose.

It's in a busy market, and parking is an issue if you're driving yourself. There's no dedicated parking onsite. The manager and staff were courteous and helpful, and the food was good. Still, it wasn't clear what the continental breakfast plan included since breakfast was à la carte. For a budget stay, it was good overall.
