Amrutha Castle

The room was a shock: cockroaches, mould on the walls, and a filthy bathroom. The sheets, sofa covers, and cushions looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in ages. By any standard, the hygiene was unacceptable. We arrived in the evening and the property felt almost haunted. There was dust everywhere, hardly any lighting, no visible security, and no staff around to help. Only one lift was working, which says a lot about how poorly the place is kept. The pictures online give a completely misleading impression. Amrutha Castle is in a prime location and the building itself looks impressive, but that’s where the positives end. Maintenance, cleanliness, housekeeping, the restaurant, and management were all absolutely pathetic. We stayed here over Christmas, and it was the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had.

The location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. It’s badly run down and has lost all its charm, and the staff were shockingly unhelpful and irresponsible. Wi-Fi wasn't available. I asked reception for hot water ten times and still got none. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

The location was good, but the rest of the stay was very bad. The rooms smelled pungent, and with poor ventilation it felt unsafe. There were spider webs everywhere, the toilet fittings were broken, and the room had no curtains. The extra mattress was terrible. The lift stopped working from the fourth floor, so we had to carry our luggage down ourselves. No hotel staff helped us bring it to the ground floor.

We lost a lot of time checking into this place, then cancelling and finding another hotel, and our plans were delayed. The inconvenience was especially hard on the elders travelling with us. The rooms smelled awful, with a fungus smell throughout, and the washroom doors wouldn't lock. The pipes were rusty and the whole place felt like a haunted bungalow with no welcoming feel. Our travel agent had booked it, but it was very poorly maintained.
