Hyderabad Marriott Hotel & Convention Centre

We had a wonderful family stay. The buffet was excellent and memorable, and we made good use of the lounge during evening happy hours after booking a Lake View room with lounge access. There are lots of photogenic spots around the hotel campus, great for photos or reels. Staff were courteous and supportive throughout, and handled our late check-in and check-out requests without any hassle. Room service and in-room dining were prompt, and the food was high quality. One issue was the noticeable smell from the nearby canal in outdoor areas, though it didn’t come inside the hotel. Also, booking through the Marriott Bonvoy app with a Points + Cash upgrade to a Lake View room didn’t include breakfast, which was disappointing. That seems to be a general Marriott Bonvoy policy rather than something specific to this hotel. Including breakfast would have made the stay a perfect 10/10.

The location made things easy, and the rooms were spotless. I was here for a Panasonic Technical Seminar, and the facilities worked perfectly for it. The service was top-notch too. I had an exceptional stay! 🤩✨🏨😊

The smell from the lake or gutter beside the hotel was the biggest problem for us. They put air fresheners outside and in the common areas, but the odor still got into the rooms through the weak air conditioning. My room also felt musty because, I think, the AC cooled the air without taking out the humidity. I usually sleep fine at a Marriott, but I didn't sleep well here. My family booked 3 rooms for one night. The check-in itself was smooth, though we had to wait in the lobby while the team arranged adjacent rooms. They offered chai, lemon soda, fresh orange juice, cookies, and a welcome kit of local snacks, which we appreciated after the long trip. The snacks were delicious. The rooms were spacious, neat, and clean, but my brother's bathroom wasn't very clean, so room cleanliness seemed inconsistent. The common areas were well kept. The lobby cafe was painfully slow. It took about 30 minutes to bring chai when it wasn't crowded. The drinks tasted good, but when we had a friend over that evening, service dragged again and the chai arrived completely cold. I raised it with the person at the billing counter, who blamed the cold chai on the cafe being crowded. That was unacceptable. Breakfast had a wide spread, and I tried most of the vegetarian dishes. Every one was delicious. We had a 6 hour drive ahead, and the hotel kindly packed snacks for the road.

The odor hit me whenever I entered or left the hotel. The entrance and rooftop bar sit right over a flowing river of sewage, and burning incense to cover it only made the air around the place noxious. Looking at the map, I had expected a great central location. My room was decently equipped but dated. On the second evening, I found what looked like brown coffee stains all over the bathroom sink, apparently left by housekeeping. I hadn't left any coffee in the room that morning. Restaurant service was extremely slow, orders were often wrong, and at the rooftop bar they gave me someone else's check. Staff sometimes stayed tucked away in a corner, and I had to shout to get their attention. The food was mediocre. I ate much better at the airport lounge when I left the city. I paid for 4 nights but received Bonvoy credit for only 3. What a mess, and unworthy of the global Marriott brand.
