OYO 2635 Hotel Balaji Residency

A clean place in a pretty good area, with good service and solid value for a business traveler. For anything below 1500, it's a good deal. It would be nice if the complimentary breakfast included two plates and mineral water.

I won't stay here again or recommend it after this experience, especially for a rate above 1000. I've stayed more than 7 times since 2014, but under the new manager the place is badly run, mostly filthy, and full of old furniture. The manager, Shiva Reddy I believe, has no customer service skills and doesn't speak respectfully. He acts like a 1970s lodge owner by a bus stand, not an OYO manager, and doesn't maintain OYO standards. When I asked about the filthy room, he said that's how it was maintained because I got a deal below the usual rate. I was shocked. He even suggested I cancel the next day's booking I'd already made through OYO, claiming the hotel was fully booked for a function, which OYO didn't know about. After I ordered coffee, I waited half an hour, then he said he could only serve tea the next morning because his staff were busy. The owner should train or remove him before losing returning customers like me. I could at least consider adjusting to a dirty room if it were cleaned, but not a rude manager with no manners.

I stayed for almost 10 days straight and felt at home, and I look forward to coming back. The staff were professional and kept the facility to good standards. All rooms have AC, the facilities are nice, and there are plenty of food and sweets places nearby. There's a general store right at the front of the building. The hotel is easy to reach, just above an ATM, bank, and CCD cafe.

I booked mainly because of the location, with useful places and tourist spots close by. The rooms and services exceeded what I expected for the price. Staff were responsive and helpful whenever needed, and the cleanliness was superb. A very decent budget hotel that gave me more than I expected for what I paid.
