OYO Flagship 140 Amaltas AB Road

The room was fair and dinner was okay, but the complimentary breakfast was awful. The bedsheet and pillowcase were dirty, and even the tea cups were dirty when I ordered tea. The tap kept wasting water overnight. I’d tell people not to stay here.

I stayed only because the hotel was close to CHL hospital, where my uncle was hospitalized, and I had no choice but to remain there. It did nothing to make the stay easier. The place smelled of mold and stench, and the staff seemed incompetent. OYO also showed little interest when I called to complain. They said they’d get back with a resolution, but it’s been 5 days and I’m still waiting. On a call that lasted about 20 minutes, they kept saying I booked through MMT and had to contact them, and that OYO couldn’t help with cancellation. I asked what OYO could do, and they just repeated that I should call MMT. I paid 13000+ rupees for 2 rooms over 3 nights, at 2200+ per room, and that didn’t include breakfast. Please be careful if booking through MMT. The hotel was still being renovated, so my room had paint fumes. OYO still accepted 100% bookings without regard for guest health. The toilet water leaked constantly. The bedsheets were really dirty, and both the bed covers and the replacements I asked for were torn. I had to pick the least bad one. The floors were stained, and the furniture was old and tacky. The lift looked like it was from the 1970's, with a grill door. It stopped working if someone left the door open, which happened a lot, and no employee monitored it. The button wouldn’t press while the door was open, so I couldn’t tell whether it was working. It took staff 25 mins to bring water to my room. It was a horror show of a stay. Please don’t visit or book. I wish I’d taken photos to back up what I’ve written. If you still want to go, visit and decide for yourself, and don’t pre-book online.

The reception staff were cooperative and helpful, but the room problems made this a bad stay, even though I’d booked for just half a day. There was a rat running around in my first room, which really scared me. The cleaning staff didn’t bother to check or remove it, so I had to complain at reception before they changed my room. The new room looked clean and had no rats, but once I turned on the AC it smelled of cigarettes. I then found a cigarette packet under a chair. There was lots of dust and garbage swept under the old furniture. The cleaning service was lousy. Please check the room carefully before booking. I couldn’t upload the pictures despite trying several times.

The restaurant food was quite good, and the service seemed okay. Its charges have to be paid separately, though, since they aren’t added to the room bill. You can get a clean enough room for a night’s sleep, but the dark bathrooms and general experience make it unsuitable for staying several days.
