We enjoyed walking around the open grounds, where peacocks, squirrels, and other birds wandered freely. Our room had a comfortable, cozy feel, and my wife and I loved its heritage character. The layout of the lavatory was unusual, and unlike anything we’d seen before. Hotel Diggi Palace is tucked into a quiet part of Jaipur, with lush greenery and a peaceful atmosphere. The staff at the front desk and throughout the property were professional and accommodating, including with our special requests. The food was decent, though there’s room to improve it.

The Holi celebration at the hotel turned out to be very enjoyable. The owner’s daughter-in-law made us feel welcome after a tuk-tuk driver told us the Holi fire would be lit at 1:30. We later learned about the festival at the hotel. Checking in, though, felt clinical, with no explanation of what was happening or offer of help. The hotel itself is tired, and there was very little hot water for a shower. After our meal, I asked to pay by card and was asked if we could pay cash instead, then the card machine didn’t work. I hope the owner can restore the place to its full potential, because it could be a great venue.

The photos online don’t capture how good this place is. It was the highlight of our 10-day trip, a nature-filled retreat just minutes from the city center. The rooms were incredible, the restaurant top tier, and the pool flawless, all for great value. Service was impeccable from the manager and the rest of the staff. Wi-Fi only worked in common areas, which added to the restful, disconnected feel. We wished we could have stayed longer.

The staff’s cold, unwelcoming manner shaped the whole stay for me. I didn’t feel much care or effort to make guests comfortable, which was hard to overlook given the price. Breakfast cost extra, which was fine, but payment felt aggressive, and the food was below average and overpriced. I went only once. My bill repeatedly included things I hadn’t ordered, and pointing this out made things awkward, as if they were annoyed I hadn’t simply accepted it. The same no-change problem came up more than once, with breakfast and room service. I’d try to pay cash and there was suddenly no change, leaving me feeling pushed to give up the difference. Room service also meant cash on the spot, no change, and no flexibility. Maybe once would be understandable, but the pattern made things feel poorly managed or not entirely honest. The property has heritage charm and space, and the location is good for parts of the old city and several sights. It initially seems like a quiet escape from the busy streets. But my room was basic, neglected, and not well maintained. The bedding didn’t feel reassuring, and the supposed double bed was two twin beds pushed together. I was on the third floor with little luggage help after a long day out. Someone only came to help when I was already halfway down the stairs. It’s a shame, because the place has charm and a great location, but the service overshadows that. For the price and expectations, I can’t recommend it.

The staff were fantastic and so sweet when I had the chance to get to know them. The hotel’s beauty really stays with you after leaving, and its location is accessible from all over the city. The rooms are gorgeous, especially for the price compared with other heritage properties we considered. I can’t wait to return.
