Hotel The Surya is a convenient base for visiting Jaisalmer’s main attractions, and I found it comfortable, clean, and good value for money. We spent one memorable night here as a family on 7 Dec 2025. The owner was friendly and helpful, the food was good, and the view from both the room and rooftop was amazing. We’ll be back. Most recommended stay.

The location and atmosphere are really charming, with easy access to the main market and other attractions within the fort. Hotel The Surya Jaisalmer offers a unique, authentic-feeling stay. The rooms are cozy and good value for the price, with a boutique-style feel.

The stay didn’t feel worth what we paid. My wife and I found the room uncomfortable, with poor ventilation and stale air. Noise from the neighboring room carried through both night and morning, and there was no welcome tea or coffee. We asked several times, around 4-5 times that morning, for hot water. It still wasn’t coming properly, though staff kept telling us it would. We were in a hurry to leave. We expected to feel relaxed after booking a room, but we left dissatisfied.

The hotel seems to get by on being close to the fort, but I’d tell people to stay away. The rooms were very dirty, mosquitoes were flying around, and the bathroom and taps were filthy. The door was a little broken, and there wasn’t a proper water supply. They kept urging us to book a Sam sand dunes trip at a very high charge. When I asked for soap and shampoo, they said they don’t keep them. Even basic facilities were missing. It was the most pathetic experience I’ve had.
