Park Plaza Jalandhar

I came for a friend's Indian wedding and found this to be a high-quality hotel in India, about the same status as a Best Western in America. The breakfast was delicious, the showers were hot, and the service was top notch. I never had to ask twice for anything. As my first visit to India, I found it relaxing, and I felt safe leaving my belongings in the room. The outlets by the bed are universal, so I didn't need a converter. It's easy to find and quick to reach from anywhere in the city. Taxis regularly pass along the road in front, so rides are easy if you don't have a dedicated driver. There are a couple of good, safe ATMs nearby, though none in the hotel. The pool doesn't exist, and brownouts are fairly common.

They seemed focused only on money and didn't know how to treat clients. Service at the Park Plaza banquet hall was extremely poor, and they didn't even offer basic things like tea or coffee. I was very disappointed with the hospitality and wouldn't recommend the place to anyone seeking professional service or good guest care.

Breakfast was out of this world, with freshly made omelets, a variety of chai, and sweet and savory options. Service was excellent, and having a restaurant in the hotel is nice. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable, though I could hear people upstairs. We were on the second floor. There are quite a few ATMs nearby, but the hotel isn't close to a market. The biggest issues were the location and the bathroom window, which ran from floor to ceiling and let the room look in. Nope. The shower leaked, probably due to a design flaw, and the shower fan didn't work. The key card controls the room's power and you only get one, so the AC doesn't run while you're out. Together, that made the room a little humid, though it improved once the AC was on. The pool doesn't exist, just an empty concrete bowl. I didn't try the spa.

The pool was a real hit with our son, and it was clean and well looked after. We also ate well, from the good breakfast spread to dinners with lots of choices. The pizzas from the proper oven were especially nice. We came as a family, and the staff made us feel looked after from check-in through housekeeping and meals. Our room was spotless and comfortable, and the hotel has a fresh, modern feel. We had a fantastic stay at Park Plaza Jalandhar and would happily come back.
