The Maya Hotel

We travelled from New Zealand for our son's first birthday and Lohri, and I came away feeling we were taken advantage of as overseas guests. It seemed they charged us for everything because they assumed we wouldn't question it. We booked 5-6 rooms and the banquet hall for a couple of nights through Booking.com at confirmed prices. The staff kept pressuring us to pay more at the hotel, claiming Booking.com added taxes and misleading us into thinking the online booking cost more. The hotel was actually trying to charge above that price, then kept adding unjustified costs for food and services. Even after we paid what they asked, including extra out of courtesy, they continued demanding more in a greedy, aggressive way. The rooms were in terrible shape: uncomfortable, unhygienic beds, dirty mattresses, filthy bathrooms, poor cleanliness, and no proper hot water. They were unbearably hot, almost like an oven. The AC gave off an unpleasant smell, and staff said it was central heating and couldn't be switched to cooling. There were no fans or extra bedding, even after we asked, and nobody tried to fix the problem. Staff were rude, arrogant, and unprofessional from check-in through checkout. The banquet arrangements were a disaster. They didn't even have a refrigerator for our child's 2-tier, 4 kg birthday cake, so it was damaged before the celebration. Staff didn't serve it properly, didn't return what was left, and showed no accountability or apology. The front desk manager, Rajeev, acted arrogantly as if he owned the hotel and spoke disrespectfully. This place charges 5-star prices while providing worse than 1-star service. Poor hygiene, dishonest pricing, rude staff, terrible rooms, and zero professionalism. I strongly wouldn't recommend it, especially for families or international travellers. This is based on a real stay, and I regret choosing it for such an important family celebration.

Mr Naveen handled everything for our family function and did a wonderful job. The food was amazing, especially the butter chicken, which was so yummy. Special thanks to Naveen ji for arranging it all.

It's close enough to enjoy Jalandhar but away from the city's chaos, and it's a very good place to stay. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the staff are kind, helpful, and ready to assist with what you need. The walls are thin, though, so I could hear the person nearby snoring. Apart from that, I'd recommend this very good hotel for a stay in Jalandhar.

The buffet was the highlight of my recent visit to The Maya Hotel in Jalandhar. In my opinion, it's the best in Jalandhar, with a great range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, all fresh, flavorful, and nicely presented. Starters arrived hot and crispy, the main course had plenty to choose from, including curries, breads, rice, and salads, and there were several fresh desserts with well-balanced flavors. At ₹550 per person, I thought it was worth every rupee for the quality and variety. The restaurant was clean and well maintained, and the polite, attentive staff made sure everything was served properly. The elegant, comfortable ambience felt well organized too, making it a good fit for a family dinner, business meeting, or small celebration. I had a wonderful experience and would happily visit again. Five stars, no doubt.
