Hotel The Balam

Breakfast was a letdown: the food came cold, and the juice was packaged Maaza rather than fresh fruit juice. I also found the service unreliable. Housekeeping wasn't available after 9 PM, and when I arrived late and asked for cleaning, reception refused, saying no service could be provided. The staff there seemed uninterested in guests' concerns. The rooms felt neglected and had an unpleasant smell. The attached window photo suggests it may not have been cleaned in years, and the bathrooms were unhygienic. The supplied water tasted salty, which made it uncomfortable and even unhealthy to use. The deluxe room was cramped once we brought in a few travel bags, with hardly any room to move. Its layout was poorly thought out too, since the cupboard sits in front of a small table and can't be opened fully. The attractive photos and 4-star ratings are misleading. This was a very disappointing stay and not worth the money. I'd avoid booking here.

We stopped here while driving from Rann of Kutch to Delhi. It's near the main highway, and the staff were welcoming and polite. Our room was a good size, the restaurant food tasted good, and there's a large playground for kids.

We had a confirmed booking but weren't given the room on time. Reception even asked us to check in before the stated time, which made no sense, and the staff were rude and uncooperative throughout. Breakfast was really poor, with few choices and bad quality. It's only served from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, so if you miss that short window there's nothing. The hotel doesn't even have a proper kitchen for something as basic as tea. Our room was badly maintained, there were no toiletries, and the towels were old, shabby, and unhygienic. The service, facilities, and attitude were unacceptable. Avoid this place if comfort, hygiene, and respectful service matter to you.

Kuldip and Kalyan Singh handled the management well, and they upgraded my room at no extra cost. Chief Shubo Sing made delicious food. Dinner was superb, and breakfast was exceptional. I had a very good stay.
