Rani Mahal

The Haveli is beautiful, and spending a night in one of its rooms felt magical. The fort view from the rooftop is breathtaking. But the room wasn’t very clean: there was dirt beside the bed and in the shower, and marks on the floor showed the cleaning water was already dirty. Breakfast and service were average, nothing special. We paid 6500 rupees for the night, though we’ve stayed in cleaner places with better service for less. We knew it was an old Haveli when we booked, so the lack of quiet wasn’t a surprise.

This heritage hotel is tucked into the old lanes of the Suncity, close to the famous blue lanes of Navchowkiya, about 200mts away, and it’s easy to get around the city from here. The restored property is clean, spacious and well kept, with plenty of old-world charm. Its blue rooftop restaurant gives you a full view of meharangarh fort, and the reception is beautiful too. Our room for four adults felt a little cramped, although the rooms are generally good. The room itself was fairly casual, but the gorgeous lippan art wall behind the bed adds a lot of beauty, and the bath has a rare tub. There’s no lift, which could be a downside for some. Service at the rooftop restaurant was a little slow, but the food was nice, and breakfast was simple and delicious. The owner is a cheerful, smiling lady who chats with guests, and the staff were very courteous and helpful. We loved our stay, though it felt a little overpriced.

It was the people who made this 450-year-old heritage property feel special. The staff were welcoming, warm and respectful, and Mrs. Nisha Bhandari’s humble, affectionate manner made it feel like home. Rani Mahal Haveli has a timeless charm and gave us a royal, memorable stay.

They gave us an early check-in, which was a big help. Mitali ma’am and Sharavan bhaiya were especially kind and cooperative, and the staff were very polite throughout our comfortable stay at Hotel The Rani Mahal, Jodhpur. The hospitality was excellent, and the hygienic Jain food was tasty too. Highly recommended for families and Jain travelers visiting Jodhpur.
