The Blue Turban

The restaurant was a real find. We climbed some dingy stairs past rooms to reach the rooftop, then found a lovely spot in the shadow of the fort. The food was amazing, portions generous, and service attentive. A band was playing too, which added to the atmosphere.

We had dinner with a view of majestic Mehrangarh Fort, and the live folk music really lifted the atmosphere. Mr. Jaswant Singh ji was very kind and humble, and shared interesting facts about the Fort and Jodhpur while our food was being prepared.

We had lunch for three and ordered Lassi and Masala + Cheese Maggi. The bill was Rs. 649. The food quality was excellent, especially the Lassi, which was one reason we chose this place, as it was among the few spots in Jodhpur recommended for it. Service was decent. We were there for the restaurant only, though we noticed they have rooms. The rooftop restaurant has a lovely ambiance, and it’s worth climbing the three floors to get there. The difficult part is reaching it. It’s in Jodhpur’s old blue city, a maze of narrow lanes with mind-boggling traffic, dogs, and cows all around. Driving our rented car through the lanes felt dangerous, and there was no proper parking. We had to leave it almost 400 meters away and walk through dirty, smelly lanes.

We had the Rajasthani thali, which was tasty and very nice. One is just right to share between two people. The vegetarian thali cost 720, a good price for the quality. Amazing fort views and attentive service. Thanks!
