Kaziranga Golf Resort

We loved the hospitality, food, location and warmth of the service. The golf course was our main reason for staying, but it needs proper maintenance. If you're going there to play, check first whether they've renovated it. Golf clubs are available, so we only needed to bring golf balls and tees. The rooms are very basic, with split beds. The curtains need changing, and the bathroom needs a better shower.

We drove 45 minutes for lunch to celebrate our daughter's birthday, and it was worth it. The property is pristine and well maintained, and the staff are cordial. Our food was top quality at very reasonable prices, and the bar is well stocked. Our daughter had fun in the open space and small playground. A great outing for families or friends looking to have a few drinks somewhere nice. One idea for management: cleaning the fountain pond and adding ornamental Koi fish, like they have in Japan's drains, could make it a relaxing spot to sit and watch.

The staff were the highlight, friendly, amazing and always going out of their way to keep guests happy. The garden is huge and beautiful, and the hotel sits in a gorgeous spot between tea plantations. The rooms are older, but comfortable and well maintained. The train line right behind the hotel is the one downside. Trains run through the night and sound their horns, which can be loud enough to interrupt sleep. Otherwise, everything was perfect. Great views and hospitality, though light sleepers should be prepared for the noise.

The colonial architecture, vintage book collection at reception and paintings throughout the place are nice, and the tea plantation setting is lovely. In pleasant weather, it's a decent place to walk around. But the buffet was disappointing, with poor food and little variety, and definitely wasn't worth ₹650 per person. The golf course isn't active.
