Homocation Sikhiri Cottages

Stay away from Sikhiri Cottages. Our visit felt like a nightmare because of what seemed to us like dishonest management and unreasonable charges. The cottage was basic and poorly maintained, yet the room rate was already high for the limited amenities. Food prices were also unreasonable, about triple what we'd pay for better dishes elsewhere. The meals were mediocre and portions small, so we felt ripped off each time. At checkout, the manager presented a list of charges that we believed were fabricated and based on lame excuses. It felt like petty extortion, not hospitality.

A lovely place to stay when you're visiting this area. It's a friendly oasis surrounded by the beauty of The Manas National Park, and the staff were very helpful and welcoming.

Apart from housekeeping, everything else was great. Room 103 was spacious, but it had a strong damp smell, and the bathroom was horribly dirty. The toilet seat cover was especially bad, and there were black fungus spots on the bathroom door and ceiling. The sheets, covers, and towels smelled a bit too, which wasn't what I expected at 7000/- per night. Cockroaches and insects in the room were a shock and a danger to our kids. When I called the manager, he said no one staying there the night before had complained. We came for a family holiday, not a honeymoon. Please deal with the housekeeping issues before families stop coming and only honeymooners stay. I appreciate that we weren't charged extra for the insects and cockroaches. Three of us, friends, stayed at Sikhri Cottage and had a wonderful time. We were happy with the food and the staff's excellent behavior. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the surroundings felt peaceful and pleasant. I'd definitely recommend visiting this lovely place.
