We had a good time overall, though a few things were average. The camp is deep in the desert, far from the roads, and worked well for a family gathering. The room was 5/5, food 4/5, service 5/5, and staff 4/5. Ask about an upgrade after you arrive. The desert safari was a big letdown. We paid 3k for a night safari that was hardly just 15 mins away. They show you activities and charges when you check in, and the prices are very high, so bargain as much as you can. There are vendors outside who may signal as your car passes. You could wait and negotiate with them instead. They strongly say they don't give camps to bachelors, but we found the camp had only bachelors. We were fine with that, but it didn't match what they'd told us. We were also uncomfortable when foreigners near us were smoking sheesha during the Rajasthani folk program. When we brought it up, staff said they couldn't ask foreigners to move, but could have told Indians to move.

Our group of 6 had a wonderful leisure trip, with a good desert safari, breakfast, folk dance, and smooth check-in and check-out. I'd suggest providing free cold water in the rooms, especially in summer. We also had trouble booking a car, and the management wasn't very transparent about all the charges, so they should clarify those upfront.

The desert outing with Ali was unforgettable. He drove us for the safari and was skilled, patient, friendly, and a great guide. The camel ride, dunes, and sunset were all lovely. At the resort, Ashok and Akshay were kind, quick to help, and even arranged non-spicy food for us when we asked. Mr. Arman also personally looked after us and made us feel welcome. The place was clean, cozy, and well maintained, with delicious food and a vibrant cultural program. The atmosphere made for a lovely Jaisalmer getaway. Thanks to the whole Golden Star Resort team for making our trip so special. Highly recommended.

Tejpal was especially excellent, polite, and answered all our questions. Arman deserves applause too. Every staff member was helpful and courteous, and the service and hospitality were excellent. I'd love to come back.

The camp has a great view and the food was delicious. My room was neat and clean, with the basic amenities, including AC, a heater, and toiletries. The desert activities were a real highlight of the stay. It's one of the most amazing camps in Jaisalmer, and I'd definitely look at staying here.
