Thangam Residency Hotel

The hotel needs to improve fire safety. I couldn’t find any fire extinguishers, hose, or hydrant during my stay. There were fire hose cabinets, but they were empty. The blankets on the bed didn’t feel clean or fresh. The room was otherwise fine, but pigeon droppings around the balcony window were unhygienic and affected my comfort. I hope they improve regular cleaning and pest control.

I was told confidently by a hotel associate that the AC worked well, and that it was normal for the temperature not to drop even after an hour. I set it to 16 deg C with two fans running, yet I was still sweating in bed. It felt like they were cheating customers. They did later offer to change the room, but I don’t think the ACs were maintained well enough to cool it. Not worth it. I visit south TN frequently, but may not stay here again.

The room is decent for the price, but this place works best for people booking the ground-floor hall for a function. It’s far from the city center, and there are no decent restaurants nearby. There’s no canteen or restaurant at the lodging either, so you have to travel into town yourself or order online and wait quite a while for delivery to the room.

We had contacted the hotel about a room for 28 th December and told them we’d arrive early, at 6am that morning. They agreed and took an advance payment. I also called the lady receptionist on 26 th December to confirm that we’d arrive on time. But when we got there and called reception, they said we had booked, yet couldn’t occupy the room until 10. They were domineering and spoke harshly, insisting we were wrong. Why had reception agreed to early check-in, then? Their inaction left three women stranded on the road. The owner and both the lady and male receptionists argued that they’d done nothing wrong. They gave us false hopes, and despite everyone’s reviews, they had the audacity to reply to mine saying I was rude. The owner’s behavior was the worst, and this was the worst experience of my life.
