City Guest House

We had a good view of the Suru river and Himalayan mountain range, and staff were helpful with arranging travel. Every room had a geyser, so we had continuous hot water. The WiFi was provided but didn't work during our stay. There were enough comforters, but they weren't enough for the bitter cold around midnight, even in September. If you struggle with the harsh Himalayan chill, ask the hotel for a room with a heater. It seemed like the government might cut off internet access at any time if it suspected something sensitive.

We stayed as a group of nine at a very affordable rate. The service was satisfactory, and we were able to keep our bikes safe.

I visit Kargil often, and City Guest House is my favorite place to stay. The rent is reasonable, and the cooperative staff help in all sorts of ways. The hotel is centrally located, with everyday needs just a few steps away. From the terrace, you can see a lavish view of the Suru river. Maqbul is the person to speak to if you need anything.

The rooms are spacious and well kept, and the staff members are warm and friendly. Since the hotel is right in the center of the main commercial area, getting transport to different places is very easy.
