The place was in such poor condition that I’d rather have stayed in the car than book it, even in an emergency. The walls were losing plaster, the doors wouldn’t lock, and the windows couldn’t be shut at night. When I raised this, the receptionist just said to manage. The bedsheets were torn and dirty, and the cupboards were full of their things, leaving nowhere for my luggage. The mattresses were badly worn, with springs sticking out in several spots that could hurt you or tear your clothes. Getting downstairs to the room meant using a narrow, risky path, which didn’t seem safe for older guests.
