The hosts, Aunt and Uncle, treated us like family and made us feel at home as soon as we arrived, even in the sub-zero cold. The views of the snow-covered peaks from the property were breathtaking. Our room was spotless and cozy, and the heated blankets made getting into bed after a cold day pure bliss. In winter, reliable water and a private bathroom are a real luxury here, and everything worked perfectly. The food was delicious comfort food, just right after exploring. After dinner we had a music and dance session that was a perfect end to the day, with great vibes and local rhythm. Hotel Old Monk was easily the highlight of our Spiti winter trip. Highly recommend it for a clean, warm, authentic stay in Kaza.

Aamaa, I’m going to miss you so much. The food was the best I’ve ever had while travelling. Thank you for the Ghar ka khana and Ghar wala pyar away from home. And thank you, Uncle, for making sure we were comfortable. 🙏

The aunty who runs Hotel Old Monk cares for you with the kind of love you’d get from your own mother. The way she serves meals and looks after guests makes you want to linger in the common area and enjoy the homely feel. Even in harsh winter weather, the rooms are cozy, well kept, and extremely comfortable, with facilities that are hard to find elsewhere in those conditions. It’s a heartwarming blend of comfort and genuine hospitality. Staying here feels like being at home.

Yeng Chan Aunty was especially hospitable, and the staff were really helpful too. We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Old monk and recommend booking here. You’ll love it.

The valley view from the top floor was amazing. Hotel Old Monk sits near the riverbed and has three floors. The food was decent, and breakfast came hot, served one dish at a time. The kadai deserves a special mention. Power can fluctuate in Kaza. The bed heater didn’t work for me, and because water is scarce, they keep it in tanks in each room. The bathrooms still need geysers, though they did have a water-heating rod.
